The map shows locations where smelt was fished in 2016, according to respondents of a questionnaire. Smelt are spring spawners migrating from major lakes into rivers. The fishing most commonly takes place in the early spring at creek or river mouths below the first dams or hydro power stations which are barriers to the fishes’ further migration (Map Madeleine Bonow)
