Along with the increasing number of Minangkabau wanderers, since the end of nineteenth century many lepau have sprung up in the cities of the Dutch East Indies. In lepau, varieties of Minangkabau special foods including rendang were also served. Lepau became an important hub in popularizing rendang to the various groups of people. The relationship between rendang and lepau really cannot be separated
