(Map 1) Topographical map of Gotland. This wind-blown island is a popular summer destination for Swedish and foreign tourists. Gotland and the southernmost province of Skåne are the only areas in Sweden, where the European dewberry grows in large amounts, although it can be found up to the 60th north parallel. Dewberry has in the recent decades, however, become specifically associated with Gotland (Map: Oona Räisänen, Creative Commons)
